MainStreet Family Urgent Care is going RED to celebrate American Heart Month. The second largest urgent care company in Alabama is encouraging patients and surrounding communities to get informed on heart disease and how to maintain a healthy heart through diet and exercise.

“As an urgent care, we don’t typically care for patients with heart disease or other chronic conditions, but we still care about the health and well-being of all of our patients,” said Betsy Stewart, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer with MainStreet Family Urgent Care. “At MainStreet, we are passionate about educating the community, and as one of the leading causes of death among Americans, we believe heart disease and heart health are incredibly important topics .”

The month of February is American Heart Month, and according to the American Heart Association, (www.heart.org), approximately every 40 seconds an American will have a heart attack. MainStreet has launched a social media campaign to inform others of these shocking statistics and share tips on great heart nutritious foods and exercises to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Additionally, on February 2nd each of the 15 clinics participated in Go Red for Women (https://www.goredforwomen.org/) which aims to raise awareness on women’s heart health issues. Women often experience atypical or “silent symptoms,” which is why it’s crucial to educate others. The clinic staff wore red as a reminder to check vitals like cholesterol and blood pressure regularly to prevent heart disease.
