Today’s Family Spotlight is on Sallyanna Silveria, FNP-C! Sallyanna is a Family Nurse Practitioner and a vital member of our Monroeville MainStreet Family. We asked Sallyanna a few questions about Monroeville and working at MainStreet Family Care so you could get to know her a little better!

What are some of your favorite things about the Monroeville community?

My favorite thing is that Monroeville is a small, southern town. It reminds me of my very own community I grew up in.

What challenges do you see in the healthcare industry that you feel like you’re able to tackle by working at MainStreet?

A challenge we often see in the rural healthcare community is access. In small town communities where a large number of people work long shifts and long hours, having access to healthcare can be a huge challenge. Here at MainStreet, we work hard to give the workers of the community more access to healthcare. That includes after hours and on the weekends to ensure that they have adequate access to the healthcare they need.

What inspired you to establish a career in the medical field?

My grandmother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer when I was in high school. Watching the impact her doctors and nurses made in her life over the years as she battled cancer truly changed me. Several years passed as my grandmother fought and overcame ovarian cancer twice. In 2012, my grandmother passed away.

The next year, I spent exploring life’s options and what was most important to me. It was obvious, I wanted to spend the rest of my life making a difference in the lives of others. I started pursuing a degree in nursing. After becoming a nurse, the good Lord opened doors and things fell into place quickly. I went back to school and pursue becoming a nurse practitioner. I am so thankful for a career that allows me to give back. Your health is something that is so important. I am honored that I get to play a role in helping others take back their health and become the healthiest version of their selves.

What is your favorite local spot to eat, hang out, or community event in Monroeville?

I enjoy the southern homestyle cooking in Monroeville. I absolutely love the pulled pork sandwiches from Big D’s Butts ‘N Stuff in Monroeville, as well as the shrimp and grits from David’s Catfish. To be honest, I have not had a bad meal in Monroeville yet!! Small southern towns are typically known for their good food and southern hospitality, and Monroeville is certainly no exception!
